Sparks are flying!

I'm BACK! And better than ever, well at least I'd like to hope so. Let's be honest COVID-19, Corona, Rona has really thrown a monkey wrench in life as I know it. So considering "the times" (haha I love that saying) I am doing fairly well.
Okay, now that you know I mentally stable lets dive into this next.....series? Class?
At the current moment I am starting a new class called, 'The Connected Educator.' My last slew of posts was during my last technology based class and was all about Google and how to utilize it in the classroom. Well my curious friends we are going to venture outside of the Google realm and explore more tech for the classroom. Won't you join me?

Here we go!
Week 1
This week we learned about educational blogs, RSS, Feedly, and Adobe Spark.
as a teacher not only are we connecting with students and motivating them to learn but we ourselves need to constantly be learning as well. Education changes in a blink of eye. And to stay relevant we have to keep a good pulse on that ever swinging pendulum. A great way to do this is educational blogs. There a TONS of educational blogs out there waiting to be read. They can be general educational blogs, blogs that target your 'level' or age range you teach, even better it can be about your specific content area. Whatever you curious about or needing to educate yourself about blogs are a great way to increase your knowledge.

Guurrrrrl, I don't have time to go to each individual blog and scroll and read and scroll and read. I hear you. A wonderful way to group all of the blogs your interested in is a little website called Feedly. This is a place that creates a dashboard of each blog your follow and allows you to read the latest post from each blog helping you stay up to date and maximize the little free time you have.
Check it out here.

Another feature is if you are scrolling or search and stumble across a blog and want to keep tabs on it search for this symbol.

This is the RSS symbol. If you click on it and copy the link you can post it into your Feedly account and it will automatically add it. So cool!

My favorite thing we learned about this week is Adobe Spark. I've heard of Adobe Spark and always be curious but never had the motivation to really dive into what it is.
This web based app is so cool! You can do so much with it. You can create a webpage, a video, a post, etc. The best part is its free! Yup, go ahead re-read that part.
As a teacher during these 'uncertain times' it is important to be prepared just in case. I can't tell how many meetings we've already had about the million and one scenarios for next year. It's exhausting. Though I understand it and agree that preparation will pay off in the end. I think using Adobe Spark could be great for flipping a classroom, adding in technology slowly by utilizing some of the aspects it offers. In my previous class we learned about Google Sites. Let me tell you I poured my heart into my Google Site in hopes of using next school year. Which I definately can but Adobe Spark has me rethinking Google Sites and potentially using Adobe Spark. But if I choose to stay true to Google and I incorporate both which is even cooler. All those hours I spent creating my Google Site won't go to waste.
Check out Adobe Spark here and the video below introducing this cool app.

I love this guy he always has such great info that never seems overwhelming.

Here is a funny meme I created with Adobe Spark. I hope this makes you chuckle a bit.

Well my friends that's all I have for you today. I'm off to...my couch I guess. Maybe I'll take a walk and enjoy some sunshine. I hope you're staying well.
